GOOGLE GLASS

Hi friends. I just read about the Google Glass invention so i would like to share about this with you all. Google Glass a new kind of technology, that is, a Wearable computer Glass with a head mounted display. It is being in research and development Stage of PROJECT GLASS project. It will work like smart phones like hands-free format.Users can interact with natural language voice commands.

The main aim of google is to capture the mass market that the google has and also for future technology. The invention is developed by Google x which developed the driverless cars. The prototype for this invention was announced in way back August, 2011. Even though it is not a new idea, it caught media's attention world wide.

In the initial demo of this idea, it looked like normal pair of eye glasses but the lenses are replaced by head-up display. It is said that in future, normal lens and eye glasses will also avail this technology.

Now let us see the technical information of this Google Glass. It looks like a glass with mounted head set like computer (please see above picture). It comes with Android OS of version 4.0.4, with dual-core (OMAP) CPU. It has a rechargeable battery. The storage capacity of Glass is 16 GB flash memory (in which 12 GB is usable memory) provided with the memory of 1 GB RAM of which 682 MB is available to developers.

The display of the Glass is like a prism projector of  640 X 360 pixels (as of now there is no official information about this thing guys, it is being suggested for the developers).This display is equivalent to our Television screen of 25 inches which is about 8 feet away (i,e it will give the picture quality in the same of 25 inch screen). The input to the Glass is through voice commands through micro phone and there is touch pad like controlling system via the side of glass (i don't know much about this thing, so i will search and update in future).

The beauty of this Glass is that it has a 5 MP camera to take photos and what more, it will record videos in 720p range. when it records video, a light will be displayed above the eye which cannot be noticed by the wearer. 

But the criticisms for this new invention is lot more, because the privacy of public is disturbed, as said by most of the persons. If someone who wears the glass take a picture of stranger, the stranger may not know about this thing and it affects the public privacy. Also in future, there is plan to make applications to upload photos and videos in Facebook and Twitter straightaway from Glass. 

So as of now these are the problems that the Google Glass is facing and it is expected to hit the market in Q3 of 2013. Now, the developer version of Google Glass is available at the rate of $1500 and it is said that when it is out for consumers the price will be relatively low.
